VERY POLITICAL BOOK & PRINT CLUB

Do you have something you want to talk about that is perfectly reasonable? Do you want to inspire a print for your fellow comrades? This Book Club is where that can happen. Get the book, Everybody shares and prints on our old timely printing presses. This month’s book is Democracy Matters by Cornel West, buy the book. Learn what West has to say, he’s running for president.

This Bookclub is led by the ‘Fresh off the Press’ Crew; Aaron, Rafael, Rick, and Kevin none of whom will fight you on an ideological issue. Don’t forget this is for humans only. No tools.

MATTERbeta BOOK CLUB

Welcome to the MATTERBETAs. This Book Club is a vital way to include our community in our bookstore’s curation. Our participants choose an Advanced Reader’s Copy from the scores of books that are sent to us by publishers and authors. Then, as Beta Readers of these titles, we all report back on the books we read. Books are free.

MATTERBETAs meet every 3rd Thursday of each month, 6-7:30pm
Simple evaluation rubric provided.

We hope to catch you MATTERBETA-ing.

Book Club to Remake the World

Curated and hosted by Faatma, @handoffaatma and Dominique Christina, @dominiquechristina

One of the main features of imperial oppression is control over language. It tends to marginalize or erase anything outside of the standardized system it installed. Language is a culture keeper and a road opener. This book club, in the acknowledgment of that fact, is a post-colonial-futuristic-literary discussion portal to activate our imagination to “reworld” the world.

July’s book is James Baldwin: Living in Fire by Bill V. Mullen. Purchase here.
Book Club to Remake the World meets every 2nd Wednesday of each month, 6-7:30pm.

RSVP here.

The Book Club that Really Should Meet at a Bar

It’s no secret Rick likes to read and talk about obscure texts… He is currently selecting the next title to do so with. We will assemble in August.

Curated and hosted by Rick at MATTER
We’ll probably go to Pon-Pon afterward, for an actual drink.

21 and older only.
